The Loring Energy Projects

Energy infrastructure & economic development

Formerly the Loring Air Force Base, the Loring Commerce Centre ("LCC") in Limestone, ME is now a commercial, industrial and aviation business park managed by the Loring Development Authority of Maine. The primary assets of the LCC include over 3800 acres of developed land, significant road and rail infrastructure, on-site waste water treatment facilities and the 200 mile long, 50 foot wide continuous easement corridor, or "right-of-way," from Loring to the port of Searsport ("SL-ROW").

The Loring Energy Projects are under development by Loring Holdings, LLC ("Loring"), a private project management and development company, with offices located at the LCC and Portland, ME. The projects include utilizing the SL-ROW for the installation of energy infrastructure that will foster the development of renewable energy resources and industrial manufacturing in northern Maine.

Electric Transmission

Loring is a 50% JV Partner in the Maine Power Express ("MPX"). The project will utilize 115 miles of the 200 mile SL-ROW for the installation of a 1000MW HVDC transmission line to collect Maine and Canadian clean energy near Haynesville, ME and deliver it underground to Searsport and underwater to Boston harbor, landing at the Massport Conley Terminal and interconnecting at the K Street Substation. The vast amount of biomass located in northern Maine presents an opportunity for the refinement of biomass into biofuels. Loring is working to develop a BioRefinery to be located at the LCC as well as a new pipeline in the SL-ROW to deliver biofuel to Searsport for delivery to local and international markets. The project is in the development stage, please contact us for more information.

natural gas infrastructure

Another objective is bringing natural gas infrastructure to northern Maine. Anchor Power, LLC, a Loring subsidiary, is working to develop a Natural Gas-fired Cogeneration facility that would deliver energy, capacity and thermal resources for local off-takers, as well as anchor the expansion of natural gas infrastructure into northern Maine through the existing pipeline, owned by a third party, or a new pipeline in the SL-ROW.

Loring Commerce Centre

The Loring Commerce Centre

Formerly the Loring Air Force, the Loring Commerce Centre is 3800 acres in size and located in the town of Limestone in Northern Maine. Existing buildings and brownfield and greenfield development sites benefit from heavy duty road and rail infrastructure and on-site waste water treatment facilities. The Loring Development Authority, as an Agency of the State of Maine, is authorized for PILOT arrangements and bonds. Loring Holdings, LLC is working to bring opportunities to this site.

searsport - Loring Corridor

In the 1950's, the US Air Force established this 200 mile long, 50 foot wide right-of-way and installed a 6" pipeline which delivered heating and jet fuel from Searsport to the Bangor International Airport and the Loring Air Force Base. Loring Holdings, LLC holds the rights to develop this corridor for new natural gas, biofuels and electric transmission infrastructure. A Third Party is currently using the existing 6" pipeline for natural gas distribution between Bangor and Lincoln, with plans to expand to Searsport.
